Don't lose your way
Hello, and welcome back once again to our regularly scheduled devlog post. In non-gamedev news, I spent September playing Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, playing Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and towards the end of the month was playing Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. For gamedev news, read on!
Work is, predictably, focusing on the further development of BLACKMIND at this stage. If you missed some of the announcements earlier in the month, the demo has been updated to version 1.1. This makes the following changes:
The game now features a Future Vision power, which gives you the ability to see important keywords for the current conversation. These typically refer to lines with relevant thoughts to be read.
The settings page has been split into several sub-pages, giving more space for each setting and clarifying explanations of what each option means where necessary.
The tutorial dialogue of the game clarifies several features of the game more clearly.
Some dialogue has been updated to flow better with the Future Vision power.
If you have any feedback on the changes, or the demo in general, please feel free to fill out the feedback form – every bit helps!
Other than the changes to the demo, the development of the rest of the game is still going ahead. As mentioned in last month’s devlog, the script is being worked on at the moment. Progress has slowed here a bit as we’ve found several scenes, while sounding good when planned as part of a broad overview, haven’t been very compelling when written out as a script, and have needed to have their focus or details changed. This is a good thing! Inevitably, some scenes will get scrapped or heavily rewritten as the story is viewed more, in order to make it as strong as possible. While we can’t guarantee that the story will be perfect for everybody, we can promise that we’ll have given it our best!
Anyway, that’s about it for this month. There are no immediate demo updates planned at this stage, so expect next month’s devlog post to probably solely be talking about some behind-the-scenes stuff and what’s going on with the script. Will the first draft be done by then, or will it still be a work in progress? The only way to find out is to return here then! In the meantime, if you have questions, comments, or anything else for us, you can contact us via Discord or the contact page. See you!
