Don't lose your way
It’s that time of month again, when we discuss what we’ve been up to over the past thirty-odd days and how progress on our various works are going. No waffling around this time - let’s cut to the chase!
The big thing that happened in terms of game development is that the backgrounds for the current project have mostly been completed - they’ve all been rendered at this stage, and a bit more modification to bring them into the game’s style is all that needs to be done from here. This has also enabled us to move forwards with a few other steps of development - having the backgrounds has given us reference points for the game’s first CG, and it’s also given us enough completed assets to start finalising a Steam page.
On that note, there’s been a slight change in the plans for this current phase of the game’s development. Last month’s devlog mentioned that the plan was to do an announcement and a Steam page launch, with the game’s demo coming along shortly afterwards. After thinking on it a bit, the demo is far enough along that it makes more sense to release the demo, Steam page, and proper, official announcement all at once. That way you can play the game right away if you think it looks cool, which helps us to get good feedback and to improve upon things sooner rather than later.
So where does that leave us? I’m wary of speaking too soon, as I’ve been guilty of in the past, but this phase of things really is close to wrapping up shortly. The demo should be ready to undergo a final round of playtesting shortly, undergo any necessary changes based on that, and then released (alongside the announcement and all of the other things, naturally). So, potentially announced and available within the next two or three weeks? If not by the end of this month, then rest assured that there’ll be an explanation and apology available in next month’s development log.
Anyway, short of getting into the nitty-gritty of what paperwork and technical details have been filled out this month, that’s about it for this update. Is it an optimistic and accurate prediction of the future, or a horrible, ironic harbinger of what’s to come? The only way to know is to watch our socials, keep an eye on this website, and come back in thirty-one days for the full story! Peace!
